William E. Sebert, Jr.

January 13, 1928 — December 4, 2020

William E. “Bill” Sebert, Jr., 92, of Mascoutah, IL, born Jan. 13, 1928, in Brattleboro, VT, died Friday, Dec. 4, 2020 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.

Bill was a retired teacher and principal in the Claremont, New Hampshire, and Windsor, Vermont, schools, and coached the high school ski team. He also taught at numerous schools in the East and Mid-West.   Bill was one of the original founders of YMCA Camp Coniston with Robert Little and Douglas Reed, where he worked from 1961 to 1969 as the Boys Camp Director, followed by Business Manager and, finally, Assistant Camp Director.  He was an avid supporter of and participant in the Boy Scouts of America and a member of the Kiwanis Club in both Vermont and New Hampshire.  Bill was a United States Navy WWII veteran, where he served aboard a subchaser.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William E. and Frances Mary, nee Bailey, Sebert, Sr., his wife, Jacqueline A., nee Miller, Sebert, whom he married in Springfield, VT on June 28, 1952 and who died on May 3, 2019, a brother, Robert F. Sebert, and a sister, Marilyn L. Ferguson.

He is survived by two children, Cindy (Kevin) Nettrour of Mascoutah, IL, Douglas (Oaw) Sebert of Wentzville, MO; two grandsons, Michael (Marie) Sebert, and Timothy (Samantha) Sebert; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral: A private burial will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at a later date.
