William Carl Long

William Carl Long, 87, of Mascoutah, IL formerly of Milroy, IN born May 15, 1933 in Clarence, KY died Saturday, February 13 at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.

Carl was a retired claims adjuster for Indiana Farmers Mutual Insurance Co. and a retired independent contractor for Orbis Logistics.  He was a member of the Milroy United Methodist Church, Milroy, IN, American Legion Post 150, V.F.W., Mason Phoenix Lodge 62, and Order of Eastern Star New Castle 116 in Rushville, IN.  Carl was a National Guard veteran.  In his younger days, Carl enjoyed racing dirt bikes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Mary, nee Major, Long, a son, Andrew Carl Long, son-in-law, Michael Linville, granddaughter, Kelly Hacker, three sisters, Mildred Ping, Wilma Bastin, and Katie Blair.

He is survived by his wife, Beth, nee VanOsdol who he married in Shelbyville, IN on Feb. 21, 1975; seven children, Carla (Bruce) Wheeler, Christine (Bill) Wildmone, Caron (George) Newman, Cathy Linville, Cheryl Kaphart, Jamie (John) Messer, Ethan (Shara) Long; 14 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth Long, Harold Lee (Sally) Long; two sisters-in-law, Linda (Keith) Maple and Ann (Ron) McDaniel.
