Mascoutah

   Victor C. Van Dyne, 93, of Mascoutah, IL, born Jan. 30, 1932, in Unionville, MO died Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Evercare of Lebanon.

   He married V. Elizabeth McCartney on April 6, 1952, at the First Presbyterian Church in Kirksville, MO. To this union, two sons were born, Terry Van Dyne of New York, NY; Jeffrey Van Dyne (Colette) of Bargersville, IN; granddaughter Jennifer of Seattle, WA.

   Vic graduated from Unionville High School in Unionville, MO. Vic attended college at Northeast Missouri State University, now known as Truman, part time and taught two years in Putnam County, MO at rural elementary schools. He went and served for two years in the US Army during the Korean conflict. Upon returning to civilian life, he went back to school at Northeast Missouri State University and graduated in 1957 with a degree in Education and a Masters in School Administration in 1958. He went on to further his education in graduate studies at the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO and Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville in Edwardsville, IL.

   He taught at the high school in Kahoka, MO, was a Junior-Senior High School Principal in LaGrange, MO, served as a principal at Southwestern District Junior-Senior High School in Piasa, IL, was the Junior High School Principal of Mascoutah from 1964-1977 and later became the Superintendent of District #19 from 1977-1994, where he finally retired in 1994.

   Vic was a member of Phi Delta Kappa, President of the St. Clair County School Administrators, a member of Illinois and National Associations of School Administrators, served on the St. Clair County Scholarship Committee, the President of St. Clair County Illinois Retired Teachers, a chairman of the State IRTA Insurance Committee, served on the IRTA State Board, supervised student teachers for the University of Illinois-Springfield, served as a volunteer for the Mascoutah Main Street program and the Mascoutah Chamber of Commerce for 20 years, and a longtime member of the Mascoutah Lions Club.

   He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Nettie, nee Smith, Van Dyne, his wife, V. Elizabeth, nee McCartney, Van Dyne, a son, Terry Van Dyne and a sister, Louise Van Dyne.

   Vic is survived by his son, Jeff (Colette) Van Dyne and a granddaughter, Jennifer Van Dyne.

   VISITATION: From 9 to 11 AM Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL.

   FUNERAL: A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday March 18, 2025, at Moll Funeral Home with Pastor Andrew Anthony officiating. Burial will follow in Mascoutah City Cemetery.
