Urban L. Greten, 92, of St. Libory, IL, born April 26, 1928 in Lively Grove, IL died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020 at Coulterville Rehab and Health Care Center, Coulterville, IL.
Urban was a retired grain farmer. He was a member of St. Liborius Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 683 in St. Libory, IL. Urban was a U.S. Army Korean war veteran and recipient of Korean and Purple Heart Medals.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Theresa, nee Buss, Greten, a son, Alan Greten in infancy, one great grandson, Augustus Keith Greten, two sisters, Marie Behrman and Josephine Schmersahl, four brothers, Joseph, Anthony, Leo, and Gilbert Greten.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, nee Behrman, Greten who he married in St. Libory, IL on Nov. 16, 1955; two sons, Mark (Rhonda) Greten of St. Libory, IL, Robert (Barbara) Greten of Venedy, IL; two daughters, Sharon (Larry) Powell of Troy, IL, Geralyn (Loyd) Isringhaus of Okawville, IL; 9 grandchildren, Jacob (Britney), Lucas (Lizzy), and Zachary (Katie) Greten, Nathan (Dawn) Powell, Brittany (Paul) Stansbury, Amber (Mike) Jacobs, Tyler (Sierra) Isringhaus, Megan (Jared) Ernst, Lauren (Bryan) Schmitt; 13 great grandchildren, Josephine Greten, Wyatt and Judson Greten, Gabriel Greten, Adalyn, Alyse, and Alexia Morris, Hunter Stansbury, Harper and Kenley Jacobs, Hudson Ernst, Averi and Lynnox Schmitt; two brothers, Lambert (Carolyn) Greten of Fairview Heights, IL, Jerome (Pat) Greten of Marissa, IL; one sister, Rita Pour of Shiloh, IL; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: From 9 to 11 AM Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021 at St. Liborius Catholic Church, St. Libory, IL. COVID-19 restrictions will be followed, face coverings required, and social distancing, with a limited number of visitors in the church at any time. Please be respectful of time so other visitors may pay their respects to the family.
Funeral: A funeral Mass will be held 11 AM Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021 at St. Liborius Catholic Church with Father Paul Wienhoff celebrating. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Liborius Catholic Cemetery, St. Libory, IL.
