It is with immense sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved son and brother, Ryan Cameron Kildea. Ryan was born on December 31, 1993, at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California and passed away on January 24, 2024, at the age of 30 in Shawnee, Kansas.
From a young age, Ryan enjoyed singing songs, performing silly skits for family and friends, playing video games and spending time outdoors. As he grew into his teen years, his love for music and comedy expanded and he enjoyed sharing songs and jokes with his family and friends.
Ryan attended Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro, Missouri where he played on the golf and basketball teams and developed a love of running. Many of the friends and teachers he met there remained an important and cherished part of his life. He graduated from high school with honors in 2012. He was an extraordinarily gifted student throughout his academic career and his intelligence was effortless.
Ryan enjoyed being active in ResLife while he attended Truman State University. He was known for being a personable, reliable, calm leader who could also keep things light and humorous. He graduated with honors in 2016 with his Bachelor of Science in Biology. He later attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City and graduated with honors in 2019, attaining his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.
As an adult, Ryan loved attending outdoor and sporting events with his friends and was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. He loved all animals but especially his three cats. He was proud of the house he had purchased, which reminded him of his childhood home. He made it fun and comfortable for his cats and was a gracious host to family and friends.
Although his career with Wealthfront was just beginning, Ryan had quickly advanced as a Software Engineer and was recognized for his talents. He was regarded for being hardworking, supportive, calm, friendly, and brilliant. He had deep respect and admiration for his colleagues, whose love and compassion for Ryan has graciously been shown to our family during this difficult time.
Ryan filled our lives with great joy and laughter. His passing has left a void in our lives that could only be filled by his presence. Despite his suffering, he remained tender, caring and loving, and he greeted everyone with a smile and warm personality. His love for his sister Megan was an ever-present comfort and support to him until the very end.
Ryan is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Daniel Kildea and Sandra Kildea (née Railer); his maternal grandfather, Frank Falkenrath; his uncle, David Kildea; and his aunts, Jennifer Leonard (née Kildea) and Pamela Pogue (née Falkenrath).
His memory will be honored and kept alive by his father and mother, Jeffrey Kildea and Karla Kildea (née Falkenrath) of Ocala, Florida; his sister, Megan Kildea of Winter Park, Florida; his maternal grandmother, Shirley Falkenrath (née Bischoff) of Choctaw, Oklahoma; his three cats, Pixel, Daisy, and Petunia; as well as his numerous caring and loving aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and coworkers.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, those who wish to express their sympathy consider donating in Ryan’s name to the Kansas City Pet Project, the animal shelter where Ryan rescued his three cats from. The website can be accessed from kcpetproject.org or donations can be mailed to 7077 Elmwood Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri, 64132.
