Robert Craig Gottschammer, 67, of Fayetteville, IL, born June 12, 1956, in Belleville, IL, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.

Robert was a retired truck driver, retired from the Fayetteville Fire Department, former member of Kaskaskia Port District, and former Fayetteville Village Trustee.  In his younger years, he loved to fish, hunt, ride four wheelers, and go camping. Robert enjoyed taking a nap and feeding table scraps to his lap pup, Lola.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph A. and LaVeda M., nee Collins, Gottschammer, and two sisters, Jacklyn Gottschammer and Ruby Jolene (Virgil) Becker.

Surviving is his wife, Jo Ann Gottschammer, nee Stein, whom he married July 18, 1980;

son, Jeremy (Chrissy) Gottschammer; daughter, Jennifer (Guy) Gamerdinger; two grandchildren, Devin and Addison Gottschammer; brother, Ralph “Butch” (Sandra) Gottschammer; sister, Donna Kay Holyfield; brother-in-law, John Stein; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation:  From 3 to 7 PM Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023, at Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL. There will be a Fire Department “Last Call’ at 7 PM Wednesday evening.

Funeral:  There will be a private graveside service.
