Robert J. "Boozie" Buescher

Robert J. “Boozie” Buescher, 80, of St. Libory, IL, born in St. Libory, IL on July 20, 1943, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2023, at St. Louis University Hospital.

Robert was a retired truck driver and former owner and operator of Buescher’s (Boozie’s) Tavern in St. Libory.  He enjoyed spending time with family, grandkids, and great grandkids. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Green Bay Packers fan as well as an avid golfer. Boozie enjoyed good times and playing cards with friends.  He was a member of St. Liborius Catholic Church and Bellevile/Swansea Moose Lodge 1221.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Bertha, nee Beelman, Buescher, granddaughter, Elizabeth Buescher, two sisters, Armella (Ferd) Luecking, Dolores Bergkoetter, two brothers, Harold (Virginia) Buescher, Ralph Buescher, and two brothers-in-law, Gilbert “Skip” Mense and Melvern Weber.

Robert is survived by his significant other, Donna Hummert of St. Libory; his children, Brenda Kassen of Albers, Laurie Albers of Mascoutah, Philip (Bonnie) Buescher of Freeburg; eight grandchildren, Erin (Ishmael) Harris, Amy (Brett) Schroeder, Kelly (Kyle) Koerkenmeier, Katelyn Buescher and fiance, Sam Politte, Drew Buescher, Samantha, Gregory, and Clay Kassen; seven great granddaughters, Peyton, Olivia, Emma, Grace, Ava, Lillian, and Mia; sisters, Evelyn Weber and Rosalie Mense; sister-in-law, Sandy Buescher and brother-in-law, Tom Bergkoetter; his cats, Moony, Manny, Milly, Monty; his dog, Blasé; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Visitation: From 4 to 8 PM Friday, Jan. 5, 2024, and 8:30 to 10 AM Saturday, Jan. 6 at St. Liborius Catholic Church, St. Libory, IL.

Funeral: A funeral Mass will be held 10 AM Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, at St. Liborius Catholic Church with Father Paul Wienhoff and Father Mark Stec concelebrating. Burial will follow in St. Liborius Catholic Cemetery, St. Libory.
