Richard A. Dawson, Sr.

Richard A. Dawson, Sr., 75, of Mascoutah, IL, born May 22, 1946 in St. Louis, MO died Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at his residence.

Rich was the head custodian for the Mascoutah High School, Scott North School, and the Mascoutah Middle School.  He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Mascoutah, the Gold Wing Touring Association, and a U.S. Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Emma, nee Harris, Dawson, a sister, Loretta Etling, and brothers-in-law.

Surviving are his wife, Rebecca, nee Walthes, Dawson whom he married on November 28, 1968 at St. John United Church of Christ in Mascoutah, IL; three sons, Richard A. (Rhonda) Dawson, Jr. of Belleville, IL, Brad (Cathy Welker) Dawson of Imperial, MO, Eric (Aleesha) Dawson of Mascoutah, IL; three grandchildren, Alex (Alysa) Dawson, Brandon, and AuBree Dawson; two sisters, Carrie Knipp of Mascoutah, IL, Nancy Prance of Hot Springs, AR, a sister-in-law, Sally (Mike) Moll; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
