Michael F. Schmersahl

Michael F. Schmersahl, 90, of Lively Grove, IL, born May 4, 1928 Lively Grove, IL, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018 at Friendship Manor Nursing Home in Nashville, IL.

Michael was a farmer and a carpenter, a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Lively Grove, IL and a U.S. Army World War II veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerhard and Anna, nee Grobe, Schmersahl; his wife, Dorothy L., nee Stein, Schmersahl who he married on April 15, 1953 in Lively Grove, IL and who passed away on March 9, 2017; five brothers and two sisters

He is survived by two sisters, Mary Ann (Stanley) Povolish of Nashville, IL, and Eleanora Buss of St. Libory, IL; numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great nephews; and great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

Visitation: visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Monday, Nov. 19, 2018 and 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2017 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Lively Grove, IL.

Funeral: a funeral Mass will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in  Lively Grove with Father Tad Gegotek officiating.  Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery, Lively Grove, IL.
