Mary Lou Klingelhoefer, nee Kneschke, 90, of Mascoutah, IL, born May 12, 1928, in Vernon, TX died Friday, Dec. 21, 2018 at MarKa Nursing Home in Mascoutah, IL.

Mary Lou was a homemaker, a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Mascoutah, IL, former Sunday school teacher and member of Zion’s choir, VBS teacher, congregational secretary, Zion LWML president, vice-president, secretary and Christian growth chairman, LWML Zone vice-president and Christian growth chairman and Altar Guild secretary and treasurer. As a young girl, she sang Gospel music on a local radio station in Texas. Mary Lou delivered meals to homebound seniors for many years. She was an avid euchre and rummy player, and enjoyed word puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. Most of all, she enjoyed her family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mary, nee Lowke, Kneschke, her husband, Russel P. Klingelhoefer, whom she married in Vernon, TX on Dec. 16, 1945 and who died March 26, 1976, a son, Robert Klingelhoefer, a son-in-law, Eugene Pike, a brother, Murray Kneschke, a sister, Janet Twenhafel, and a sister-in-law, Velma Klingelhoefer.

She is survived by her five daughters, Glenda Pike of Mascoutah, IL, Marlene (Ernest) Lockwood of Mascoutah, IL, Karen (Don) Schrader of Waterloo, IL, Cheryl (Thomas) Sax of Mascoutah, IL, and Jean (Raymond) Kemezys of Fairview Heights, IL; 12 grandchildren, Melanie (Charles) Bowline, Courtney Pike, Christopher (Lisa) Lockwood, Bradley (Gina) Lockwood, Amy Kolweier, Mike (Sarah) Kolweier, Andrew (Rhea) Sax, Emily (Matt) Wambold, Douglas (Amber) Sax, Lindsay (Darren) Murphy, Katie (Joseph) Crismon and Amanda Kemezys; and 22 great-grandchildren, Sydney (fiancé Chris Norton), Allyson, Megyn and Tyler Bowline, Gabriel, Annaliese and Jacob Lockwood, Luke, Lillian and Tessa Kolweier, Ella and Ava Sax, Dalton, Cole and Grace Wambold, Bristol, Hadley and Garrett Sax, Savannah and Austin Murphy, and Taylor and Callan Crismon.

Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Mascoutah, IL, the Mascoutah Senior Center, or to Family Hospice, Belleville, IL. Condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting mollfuneralhome.com.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2018 and from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018, at Zion Lutheran Church in Mascoutah, IL.

Funeral: A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church in Mascoutah with Pastor Kirk Clayton officiating. Burial will follow in Mascoutah City Cemetery.
