Mary Ann Walter, nee Lang, 90, of Mascoutah, IL, born July 28, 1927 in Mascoutah, IL died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017 at the MarKa Nursing Home in Mascoutah, IL.
Mary Ann was a homemaker; member of Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah; member of Holy Childhood Council of Catholic Women; Holy Childhood School Mother’s Club; and Mascoutah VFW Auxiliary. Her greatest joy was being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and spending time with her family. She enjoyed traveling to see family, playing bingo, quilting, and working fish fry’s at the VFW in Mascoutah.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Magdalen, nee Grimmer, Lang; her husband, Delmar “Dutch” Walter whom she married in Mascoutah, IL on June 1, 1949 and who died Dec. 12, 1977; a daughter, Nancy, three brothers, Wilbert (Arlene) Lang, Raymond Lang, and Joseph (Anna) Lang; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Anthony (Jean) Walter, Vincent Walter, David Showalter, and Roy Scott.
She is survived by six children, Barbara (Gerry) Hasenstab of Fairmont City, IL, Robert F. (Constance) Walter of Mascoutah, IL, Mike (Sandy) Walter of Smithton, IL, Raymond (Mary Billett) Walter of St. Louis, MO, Mark (Janet) Walter of Columbia, IL, and Susan (Mark) Johnson of Monmouth, IL; 19 grandchildren, Daniel (Tonya) Hasenstab, John (Carly) Hasenstab, Aaron (Julie) Hasenstab, Lisa (Jonathan) Lidgus, Robert M. (Angie) Walter, Katy (Justin) Love, Nick (Liz) Walter, Doug Walter, Magdalyn (Jeremy) McLeod, Amanda (Justin) Bruehl, Nathan Walter, Monica (James) Mueller, Adrienne Walter, Megan Iwanowski, Charles Parker, Matthew (Leah) Walter, Meghan (Kyle) Riebeling, Jennifer (Steven) Hurst, and Mark A. Johnson; 28 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Laurine Scott, Vic (Carol) Walter, Charles Walter, Marlene Walter, and Katherine Showalter; an aunt, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral: a funeral Mass will be held 10 AM Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017 at the Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah with Father Paul Wienhoff officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Childhood Catholic Cemetery, Mascoutah, IL.
