Lillian M. Holdener, nee Sobczak, 92, of Belleville, IL, born Aug. 18, 1926 in Rochester, NY, died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2018 at Freeburg Care Center.
She was a homemaker and also worked as a bookkeeper for L. R. McKinley & Sons Chevrolet Dealership; and St. Clair County Farm Bureau as a tax preparer and manager. She is a member of Holy Childhood Catholic Church; past member of Mother’s Club; member and past president of HCCCW; member of the St. Clair County Farm Bureau; past member of the St. Clair County Board; and past member of Shiloh Valley Grange.
Lillian enjoyed quilting, watching Cardinal baseball, gardening, canning, and cooking for her family. She was often referred to as the “grandma with the moocows” by her grandchildren, and her favorite greeting was “yoo-hoo”.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Frederick M. “Fred” Holdener whom she married in Belleville, IL on May 26, 1948 and who died Feb. 3, 1978; her parents, Joseph and Ida, nee Herzog, Sobczak; a daughter, Maryann in infancy; a brother, Joseph Louis (Florine) Sobczak; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Pauline and John Brisk, Catherine and Delmar Thouvenot, Agnes and Robert Schmiskie, and Anthony Holdener.
Surviving are her five children, Frederick James Holdener, Robert (Katie von Holdener) Holdener, Thomas (Kathy) Holdener, Ronald Holdener, and Linda (Philip) Cusick all of Belleville, IL; ten grandchildren, Bryan and Matthew Holdener, Jason Holdener, Julie (fiancé Matt Meglan) Holdener, Taran Holdener, Tyler (Amy) Holdener, Haley, Chelsea, Shelby, and Kassidy Cusick; a sister-in-law, Doris Holdener of Smithton, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 3, 2018 and from 9 to 9:40 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL. A prayer service will be held 4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
FUNERAL: A funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018 at Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah, IL with Father Paul Wienhoff officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery in Fairview Heights, IL.
