Leontine E. Kruse

Leontine E. Kruse, 100, of Mascoutah, IL, died Sunday, November 19, 2017. She was born August 21, 1917 in Engelmann Township, IL.

Miss Kruse was a retired executive secretary.  Starting in 1945, she worked 32 years as secretary to the Regional Manager of C.I.T. Financial Corporation in St. Louis and eight years as secretary to the Senior Vice-president of Marketing at Roosevelt Federal Savings and Loan.

Baptized and confirmed in Bethel United Methodist Church in Mascoutah, Miss Kruse played piano at church services for many years, taught 5 ^th and 6 ^th grade Sunday School classes for 34 years, and served on various church committees.

She was a member of the St. Clair County Farm Bureau and the Mascoutah Rotary Club and delivered Meals on Wheels to Mascoutah residents.

Miss Kruse is preceded in death by her parents, George and Thekla, nee Lembke, Kruse; brother, Leroy E. Kruse; and nephew, Kevin T. Kruse.

Surviving are a sister-in-law, Lucille E. Kruse; nieces, Carolyn Kruse, and Kathleen (Dean) Floyd; and nephew, Kenneth (Margaret) Kruse; six great nieces and nephews, Jesse (Brendan) Riley, Anna (Kyle) Wolfe, Brandon (Becky) Kruse, Matthew (Jody) Kruse, Ryan (Catherine) Kruse, and Eric (Katie) Kruse; and 10 great-great nieces and nephews.

Visitation: At Miss Kruse’s request, there will be no visitation.

Funeral: Burial in the Mascoutah City Cemetery will be private.

A memorial service celebrating Miss Kruse’s life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Bethel United Methodist Church with Pastor Andrew Anthony officiating.
