Lavern C. Riess

Lavern C. Riess, 92, of Mascoutah, IL, born Sept. 16, 1925 in Mascoutah Township, IL, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018 at St. Paul’s Home in Belleville, IL in the presence of her loving cousin, Dianne.

Lavern worked in St. Louis and retired as an Insurance Claims Supervisor; she was a graduate from the University of Illinois at Champaign and Washington University in St. Louis; a lifelong member of St. John United Church of Christ in Mascoutah; St. John Everfaithful Fellowship of Women; and was treasurer and member for many years at the Mascoutah Historical Society.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur O. and Clara F., nee Langlitz, Riess; and a sister, Doris and her husband Ralph Grolle.

She is survived by her cousin and caregiver, Dianne Isbell-O’Brien of Belleville, IL; and other cousins, relatives and friends.

In lieu of all other gifts, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Belleville Area, or the Mascoutah Historical Society and will be accepted at the funeral home. Condolences can be sent to the family by visiting mollfuneralhome.com.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8, 2018 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL; and from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018 at St. John United Church of Christ in Mascoutah, IL.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018 at St. John United Church of Christ with the Rev. Hugh Fitz officiating. Burial will be in the Mascoutah City Cemetery, Mascoutah, IL.
