Joshua L. Duffie

Joshua L. “Josh” Duffie, 45, of Smithton, IL, born on June 3, 1979, in Belleville, IL, passed away on Friday, Nov. 8, 2024, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.

Josh worked for Vee-Jay Cement Contracting Company in St. Louis, MO.  He was a member of the Son of the American Legion in St. Libory IL and Laborers Local 42 in St. Louis, MO.  Josh was known for his love of the outdoors, his passion for hunting, and his unwavering dedication to his wife, family, and friends. He was the friend you could count on to lend a hand, whether for a quick project or a major undertaking. His warmth and generosity touched many lives, and his pride in his children—Rachel, Zach, Tyler Duffie, Macy and Devin Koeneman—was undeniable. Josh will always be cheering them on and watching over them with pride and love, a devoted father in spirit and in heart.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Leonard “Real” and Joan Vasquez, James and Louise Duffie, Paul and Pearl Koeneman, and Alan Wunderlich.

Josh is survived by his wife, Krissy Duffie, nee Koeneman; beloved children, Macy and Devin Koeneman, Tyler, Zach, and Rachel Duffie; his parents, Lee and Renee, nee Vasquez, Duffie; his siblings, Tanya (Kevin) Schnarre, Heidi (Justin) Clark, and Jessica (Joe) Gorka; mother-in-law, Kathlene Wunderlich; he also leaves behind nieces and nephews who adored him, Braden, Carter, Drew, and Avery Schnarre, Liam, Anna, and Rose Clark, MaKayla Duffie, and Carli Gorka.

Josh will be remembered for his genuine kindness, adventurous spirit, and the love he shared with family and friends. His legacy of love and pride in his family will live on forever in their hearts.

Celebration of Life: A Celebration of Life will be held from 10 AM to 1 PM Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024, at St. Libory Legion Hall, 7236 State Route 15 St. Libory, IL 62282.
