Joseph O Hulliung

March 1, 1968 — July 23, 2024

Joseph O. Hulliung, 56, of Marine, IL, born March 1, 1968, in Belleville, IL, died Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, O’Fallon, IL.

Joe worked for Camper Exchange in Belleville for 25 years and was recently employed with E. J. Equipment in Troy.

Joe was an avid hunter that could be found in the woods every hunting season. He looked forward to spending time hunting with his son, Joey, and occasionally dragging his wife to the woods as well. Joe held the camp record for the largest buck (a 9 pointer).  Joe also loved fishing whether in his fishing boat, or from the bank, Joe loved to spend entire days with a line in the water. He was a lover of all thing’s nature. He was an enthusiast of airplanes. He could look up and tell you exactly which plane was overhead. (Maybe because his father worked at Boeing for 42 years.)  Joe was a homebody that loved his own backyard, (acres of land, and his very own forest). He could be found clearing the brush, preparing for the upcoming hunting season. He loved to BBQ and have family get togethers, with the occasional bon fire. He loved to take everyone for walks through his forest and show them the work he was doing. It was his happy place! Joe was an Amazing Man.  Anyone that knew Joe, loved Joe. Joe was charming, funny, brave, generous, hardworking, honest, sweet, kind, witty, intelligent, creative, loving, and loyal. He believed in integrity, respect, and courtesy. Joe believed in chivalry. He always held the door for others, especially his wife. Joe will be remembered as an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and co-worker. He will be greatly missed!

Joe is preceded in death by his father, Jerome R. Hulliung, Sr. and a daughter, Niquita Milliner.

Joe is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Julie A. (LeRoy) Hulliung; his mother, Ruth Ann, nee Martin, Beaubien; his sons, Joseph Hulliung, C. J. (Brittney) Eichholz and Dalton Eichholz; grandsons, Ryan and Tegan Hulliung; siblings, Liana (Daniel) New and Jerome (Heidi) Hulliung, Jr.; nephews, Daniel and David Hulliung; relatives, friends and co- workers; and let’s not forget: his best friend, Miguel, his German Shepherd, his sidekick, his loyal buddy.
