John John Jones, Jr.

John John Jones, Jr., age 81, of rural Mascoutah, IL entered eternal rest on Monday, August 20, 2018 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, MO. John was born on December 8, 1936 in Absecon, New Jersey to John and Rebecca (Mounce) Jones.

John was retired from Orscheln Bros. Truck Lines and Stout Manufacturing. He served in the U.S. Army, was an active volunteer at the Mascoutah Senior Center (where he also served as custodian for several years), and was an organ donor.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son, Jeff Lee Jones, Sr.; two brothers, Llewellyn and Ernest Jones; and parents-in-law, Herbert Sr. and Helen (Clark) Knobeloch.

He is survived by his wife, Lynette (Knobeloch) Jones whom he married on November 17, 1962 at Union United Methodist Church in Belleville, IL, and their daughter, Jina Lyn Oakley. Those who will cherish his memory include six grandchildren, Sheri (Dennis) Haley, Rabekah Oakley (Neal Allison), Jeff (Katie) Jones, Jr., Kyle (Rebecca) Jones, Luke (Kris) Jones, and Emily Jones as well as six great-grandchildren, Isiah, Jacob and Liam Haley, Jordan Jones, Lucia Jones and Mavis Allison. Survivors also include two sisters, Mary (Hans) Moser and Rebecca Neal; surviving brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law include, Herb Jr. (Betty) Knobeloch, Johnny (Becky Rehberger) Knobeloch, Jean (Fred) Munie, Dennis (Pam) Knoeloch and Karen (Howard) Mayes; nieces and nephews include, Linda (Darden) Hamilton, Diana (Jessie) Loftis, Karin (Mike) Adams, Karen Daniels, Robert (Kim) Daniels, Maria (Ruben) Simon, Mark (Nicole) Knobeloch, Brenda (Chuck) Allen, Michael (Andrea) Knobeloch, Preston Knobeloch, Paul (Courtney) Munie, Alexis (H. Dale) Myers, Megan (Dan) Dice, Ember (Joe Pazdera) Knobeloch, Deirdre (the late Jeremy Crocker) Knobeloch and Matthew (Kara) Mayes. He also leaves behind numerous great nieces and great nephews as well as his many friends from the Mascoutah Senior Center and elsewhere throughout the community.

The family wishes to thank the ICU at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and nuero ICU department of Barnes Hospital for their compassionate care given to John.

In accordance with John’s wishes, there will be cremation and no services. A celebration of life for John and his late son Jeff will be held at the Mascoutah Senior Center from 2 to 4 PM on Saturday, September 8, 2018. Memorial contributions would be appreciated to the Mascoutah Senior Center, 227 N. Market, Mascoutah, IL 62258. In John’s memory, please be kind to others as he was to everyone he met.
