James “Jim” P. Thompson, 70, of Freeburg, IL born June 19, 1954, in Belleville, IL died Monday, Dec. 2, 2024, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Jim retired from the north Chrystler Plant in Fenton, MO. He also drove tractors for Eckert’s Family Farms as what he called his “fun job”. He was a member of the Local 136 in St. Louis, MO. Jim enjoyed baseball, fishing, antique collecting, playing cards, talking to anybody on the phone, and spending as much time with his grandkids.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Maynard J. and Eleanor A., nee Fehmel, Thompson, a sister, Barbara Rennie, and a brother-in-law, Rod Leavitt.
Jim is survived by his wife, Janet L., nee Leavitt, Thompson; two children, Christy (Scott) Haas of Mascoutah, David (Elisabeth) Thompson of Mascoutah; four grandchildren, Amber and Blake Haas, Megan and Cole Thompson; sister-in-law, Pam Leavitt; two brothers-in-law, Mike (Jane) Leavitt, Dave Rennie; also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral: A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024, at Moll Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery in Belleville, IL.
