Eugene F. Meurer

  Eugene F. Meurer, 83, of Belleville, IL, born Dec. 12, 1941, in St. Louis, MO died Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at his home.

  Eugene worked in Civil Service for 35 years in graphics at Scott Air Force Base. Upon his retirement he ventured full time into his true passion, founding Meurer Tree Service. His knowledge of trees and his ability to sculpt, repair and remove them was only matched by his enjoyment of having his family work with him and eventually carry on the business. Surpassing the accomplishments of his careers was the love he had for his Lord and his family. Praying for his children and grandchildren every night by name. When not working, he would be seen sitting by his wood stove with his Bible in hand. He leaves his family with his strong work ethic, his gifted creativity and the scriptures of Jesus that filled his speech.

  He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene A. and Edna, nee Fields, Meurer, son, Jedidiah Meurer, granddaughter, Vivianne Meurer, and a grandson, Colt Meurer.

  Eugene is survived by his wife, Ruth M., nee Borrenpohl, Meurer; his children, Sheri (Jim) Pellizzer, Jennifer (Jack) Koenig, John (Michelle) Meurer, Joshua (Kate) Meurer, Eugene (Tiffany) Meurer, Aaron (Kelly) Meurer, David (Jessica) Meurer, Anna (Scott) LaFore, Amber (Patrick) Young; 36 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Ann Lett, Jean Marie (Ron) Speiser, Edna Mae Brandt; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Roger (Joyce) Borrenpohl and Raymond (Janet) Borrenpohl; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

  VISITATION: From 6 to 8 PM Thursday, May 1, 2025, and from 9 to 11 AM Friday, May 2, 2025, at Grace Church, 5151 North Illinois, Fairview Heights, IL 62208.

  FUNERAL:  A funeral service will be held 11 AM Friday, May 2, 2025, at Grace Church with Pastor Ben Godard officiating. There will be a private family burial.
