Emma A Downs

Emma A. Downs, nee Battles, 97, of Mascoutah, IL, born Oct. 18, 1920 in Winchester, TN died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018 at MarKa Nursing Home in Mascoutah, IL.

Emma was a homemaker and a WW II U.S. Army veteran. She was a dedicated Sunday school teacher at Scott AFB, former den mother and league secretary for all youth bowling leagues at Scott AFB, IL

She is preceded in death by her parents, Monroe and Rachel (nee Terry) Battles, Sr., her husband, Frederick H. Downs whom she married in Coeur D Alene, ID on June 7, 1947 and who died Feb. 15, 2003 and nine brothers and sisters.

Surviving are her son, Christopher (Julia) Downs of Bridgeton, MO; two grandchildren, Eric and Erin Wilson; five great grandchildren, Hanna, Alexis and LeoKai Wilson and Charley and Gavin Orff.

Funeral: A graveside service will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018 at Rolling Green Memorial Park Cemetery in West Chester, PA.
