Edward R. Schneider

Edward R. Schneider, 84, of Mascoutah, IL born Sept. 17, 1935 in St. Louis, MO died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2019 at Brightly Senior Living, Mascoutah, IL.

Ed grew up in St. Louis City and lived across from Benton Park where he spent most of his childhood playing, and then graduated from Roosevelt High School in the SLPS district.  After high school, Ed was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals and pitched in their minor league organization for many years. He eventually knew not having a good curve ball wasn’t helping him, so he went off to University of Kentucky where he graduated. He went on to work and retire from then McDonnell Douglas.  He was a veteran of the United States Army. Edward was always a huge Kentucky basketball and St. Louis Cardinals fan.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Elsie, nee Vontalge, Schneider.

Ed is survived by three children, Douglas Schneider of St. Louis, MO, Stephen Schneider of St. Louis, MO, and Karen Schneider (Julie Rueter) of Mascoutah, IL; one grandson, Maxwell Higgins.
