Dorothy E. Moellman

Dorothy Ellen Moellman, nee Dausman, 98, of Mascoutah, IL, born Dec. 29, 1918 in Lebanon, IL, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017, at Memorial East Hospital in Shiloh, IL.

She graduated from Lebanon High School and McKendree College, and taught several years in one room school houses in the Lebanon area before retiring in 1978 from the Mascoutah School District 19.  She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Mascoutah; and former member of the Eastern Star.

Dorothy and her husband, Walter, organized the first Lebanon High School Golden Alumni Reunion in 1991; she was an avid square dancer for 45 years, and belonged to numerous clubs in the Belleville area and in Florida, and helped organize the first square dance club in Mascoutah.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Fannie, nee Midgley, Dausman; her husband, Walter J. Moellman whom she married in Clayton, MO on Nov. 20, 1941 and who died July 2, 2009; two brothers, William and Raymond Dausman.

She is survived by two children, John (Janet) Moellman of La Grange, IL, and Diane (Jere) Bremer of Kohler, WI; four grandchildren, Christian Moellman, Emily (Dan) Valente, Karen (Richard) Bierman, and Denise Bremer; four great-grandchildren, Alice and Willa Valente, and Megan and Christopher Bierman.
