Doris B. Grab

Doris B. Grab, nee Espenschied, 88, of Mascoutah, IL, born Sept. 27, 1929 in Mascoutah Township, IL, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2017 at the Freeburg Care Center, Freeburg, IL.

Doris was a farm wife and homemaker; member of St. John United Church of Christ, Mascoutah, IL; St. Clair County Farm Bureau; and charter member of the Mascoutah Historical Society. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing pinochle with friends, cooking and baking. She was a great letter writer and enjoyed sending cards to people.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Herman and Hilda, nee Stein, Espenschied;                     her husband, Otto J. Grab, Jr. whom she married in Mascoutah, IL on Jan. 16, 1954 and who died Sept. 21, 2007; and a sister, Viola Schuetz.

She is survived by four children, June (Craig) Benedick of Belleville, IL, Shirley (Tom) Saia of Belleville, IL, Carol (Craig) Brazelton of Waterloo, IL, and John (Marcia) Grab of Mascoutah, IL; eight grandchildren, Susan (Aaron) Fuchs, Laura (Ryan) Parker, Emily (Andy) Waeltz, Amy (Aaron) Vollmer, Carrie (Robbie) Clayton, Michael (Jordyn) Brazelton, Matthew Grab and Jenna Grab; seven great-grandchildren and one on the way, Harmon Fuchs, Nolan Parker, Megan and Jason Waeltz, Olivia Vollmer, Wesley Clayton, and Oliver Brazelton; a sister-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, 2017 and from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017 at St. John United Church of Christ in Mascoutah, IL.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017 at St. John United Church of Christ with the Rev. Hugh Fitz officiating. Burial will be in the Mascoutah City Cemetery, Mascoutah, IL.
