Diana Lynn Burt

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Diana Lynn (nee Wonycott) Burt on October 30, 2024, in Mascoutah, IL. Diana Lynn (nee Wonycott) Burt was born on June 30, 1949, in Newport News, Virginia.

She was a special education teacher for 14 years in Marissa, IL early in her career. Later, she was a reading specialist for 16 years at Mascoutah Elementary in Mascoutah, IL where she retired after leaving a lasting legacy with countless students and colleagues. During Diana’s retirement she continued her hobby of working in her yard and garden, volunteering at the Mascoutah Library, spending time reading, listening to music (especially Elvis) and most especially spending time with her six granddaughters attending their many activities, birthday celebrations and holidays.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ray Wonycott, mother, Ruth M. (nee Tribout) Delva, sister, Barbara (nee Wonycott) Woodley, and brother, Frank Wonycott.

She is survived by Thomas F. Burt, husband of 40 years; daughters, Lisa (Kurt) Nurnberger of New Haven, MO, Tammy (Roger) Rundall of Cedar Rapids, IA; granddaughters, Kayla, Halee, Cassidy, and Lena Nurnberger, Meredith (John) Abouassaly, and Mallory Meyer; sisters, Connie Plympton of Montegut, Louisiana, Cindy (Dale) Bruegemann of Carlyle, IL; brother, Eddie Wonycott; also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends throughout a lifetime of loving others with her whole heart.

VISITAION: From 4 to 6 PM Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024, at Moll Funeral Home, Mascoutah, IL.

FUNERAL: A funeral service will be held 6 PM Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024 at Moll Funeral Home.  Private burial will be held on Friday, Nov. 8, 2024, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
