Daniel R. Winn, 29, the son of James Winn and Rita Ganey, died suddenly at his home in Belleville, IL on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018.
Dan attended Holy Childhood School in Mascoutah, graduated from Mascoutah High School and received a bachelor’s degree in biology from McKendree University. He had put his degree to use as a lab technician, researching the Zika virus for the American Red Cross. Recently he had successfully completed testing in preparation for a career in the U S. Air Force. Remembered as a kind and generous father, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and nephew, Dan was a gifted musician who played the acoustic and electric guitar, entertaining his favorite audience-his nephews. Dan loved board games and challenging puzzles, as well as the beach and water activities, especially fishing. He was also an avid hockey fan.
In addition to his parents, Dan is survived by a son, Phillip, a brother, Nathan Winn, a sister, Monica (Bryan) Verlinde, two nephews, Morrison and Hendrik Verlinde and a dear friend, Luke Figgins.
In lieu of all other gifts memorials may be made to the American Red Cross. Condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting mollfuneralhome.com.
Visitation: Visitation will be from 2:30 to 5:30 PM Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018 at Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL.
Funeral: There will be a funeral service 2 PM Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018 with Father Paul Wienhoff officiating at Moll Funeral Home before the visitation.
