Daniel P Cronin

Daniel P. Cronin, 75, of St. Libory, IL, born July 11, 1942 in East St. Louis, IL, died Sunday, May 6, 2018 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon, IL.

He was a retired electrician and retired St. Clair County Electrical Inspector; a member of the St. Liborius Catholic Church, St. Libory; I.B.E.W. Local 309; Belleville Moose Lodge 1221; Ancient Order of Hiberians; International Association of Electrical Inspectors; Secretary/Treasurer of Southern Illinois Division of I.A.E.I.; past Secretary/Treasurer of St. Libory Commercial Club; served on St. Libory Village Board for 36 years; and past member of St. Libory Fire Department.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James P. and Dorothy M., nee Phillips, Cronin, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Hugo (Hilda) Mense and two brothers-in-law, Vernon and Gilbert “Skip” Mense.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Jeanette C., nee Mense, Cronin of St. Libory whom he married in St. Libory on January 9, 1965, his children, Denise (Eric) Bechard of Freeburg, IL, John (Toni) Cronin of Stone Church, IL, Julie (Kirt) Stone of St. Libory, IL; six grandchildren, Kyle Bechard and fiancé Samantha Friedman, Brooke Cronin and fiancé Joe Vandeventer, Brendan Cronin, Logan and Lucas Stone, Jeff (Maryann) Stone; one great-grandchild, Jackson Stone and one on the way; sister, Marcia Gehlhausen of Fairview Heights, IL; brother-in-law, Roy (Dorothy) Mense; sister-in-law, Rosalie Mense; two aunts, Betty Martz and Marlene Kimutis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2018 and from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2018 at St. Liborius Catholic Church, St. Libory, IL. A prayer service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral: A funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2018 at St. Liborius Catholic Church, St. Libory, IL with Father Paul Wienhoff officiating. Burial will follow in St. Liborius Catholic Cemetery, St. Libory, IL.
