Bobby Lee Jones, 85, of Marissa, IL born May 21, 1938, in Tilden, IL died Sunday, May 19, 2024, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, O’Fallon, IL.
Bobby was a grain farmer. He joined the Marissa Fire Department in 1969 and served 42 years as an active Firefighter until 2012 when he resigned from the fire department and became a Trustee for the Marissa Fire Protection District. Bobby remained a District Trustee throughout this time and was an integral part of several historical moments within the Marissa Fire Protection District with apparatus purchases, equipment purchases and more recently, the approval and building of a new fire station. Bobby was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6577 in Sparta, IL, and the St. Clair County Farm Bureau.
He was preceded in death by this parents, Edward R. and Margaret M., nee Frosco, Jones, two grandchildren, Brandon and Nicole Jones, sister, Betty (Wilbert) Lake, brother-in-law, Edward Sabo.
He is survived by his wife, La Vaun, nee Powers, Jones, whom he married at St. Liborius Catholic Church on July 7, 1956; three children, Dale (Nancy) Jones of Red Bud, IL, Debbie (Roger) Schoenbeck of Marissa, IL, Melanie (Aaron) Kramper of St. Libory, IL; 10 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; sister, Patricia (John) Krawiecki of Nashville, IL; brother-in-law, Larry (Marlyn) Powers; sister-in-law, Marie Sabo; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL: A funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM Thursday, May 23, 2024, at St. Liborius Catholic Church with Father Mark Stec celebrating. A private burial at Marissa City Cemetery will be held at a later date.
