Andrew J. Surmeier, 82, of Venedy, IL born Aug. 20, 1938 in St. Libory, IL died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, O’Fallon, IL.
Andy was the owner and operator of Andy’s Income Tax Service in Venedy, IL. He was a retired farmer and school bus driver. He was an avid antique car collector as well as a participant in many car shows. Andy was a member of St. Liborius Catholic Church, American Legion Post 683, St. Libory and a United States Army veteran. Andy loved fishing, playing cards, dancing, going out for social activities, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben B. and Emma C., nee Hesker, Surmeier, a son, Steven Surmeier, two brothers, Robert and Ralph Surmeier, and a nephew, Darrell Surmeier.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, nee Kramper, Surmeier whom he married at St. Liborius Catholic Church, St. Libory, IL on May 30, 1963; a daughter, Karen (Andrew) Kirchner of Nashville, IL; five grandchildren, Becky (Michael) Palko of Edwardsville, IL, Cindy (Beau) McDonald of Houston, TX, Allison Kirchner of Clayton, MO, Joe Kirchner of Lexington, KY, Haley Surmeier Lilley of Chester, IL; two great grandsons with one on the way; sister-in-law, Eileen Surmeier; three nieces, Lynn (Dave) McCammon, Shelly (Mike) Comley, Sara (Jim) Rockaway; also survived by numerous great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces, great great nephews, cousins.

Visitation: From 9 to 11 AM Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2021 at St. Liborius Catholic Church, St. Libory, IL. COVID-19 restrictions will be followed, face coverings required, and social distancing, with a limited number of visitors in the church at any time. Please be respectful of time so other visitors may pay their respects to the family.
Funeral: A funeral Mass will be held 11 AM Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2021 at St. Liborius Catholic Church with Father Paul Wienhoff celebrating. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Liborius Catholic Cemetery, St. Libory, IL.
