Alvina Barbara Schaeffer

Alvina Barbara Schaeffer, nee Wessling, 96, of Mascoutah, IL born Nov. 3, 1923 in Germantown, IL died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019 at Mar-Ka Nursing Home, Mascoutah, IL.

Alvina was a retired nurses aid and was a member of the Holy Childhood Catholic Church and the HCCCW in Mascoutah, IL.  She enjoyed playing bingo, embroidering, and was an avid baseball fan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Anna, nee Ripperda, Wessling her husband, John N. Schaeffer, whom she married in Germantown, IL on July 23, 1946 and who died on Apr. 7, 2002, five brothers, daughter-in-law, Joan Schaeffer, and son-in-law, Roger Caesar.

She is survived by four children, Richard Schaeffer of Cedar Hill, TX, JoAnn Caesar of Placerville, CA, Carol Blaylock of Mascoutah, IL, and Steven Schaeffer of Mascoutah, IL; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Florence Beer of Mascoutah, IL, and sister-in-law, Bertha Wessling.

Visitation: From 10 to 12 PM Tuesday Dec. 3, 2019 at Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah, IL.

Funeral: A funeral Mass will be held at 12 PM Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019 at Holy Childhood Catholic Church with Father Paul Weinhoff celebrating.  Burial will follow in Holy Childhood Catholic Cemetery.
