Alice Caroline Minnie (nee Chesney) Shubert, 98, of Lively Grove, IL, passed away on June 10, 2022 at Coulterville Care Center. Alice attained a full life of 98 years, one month and 27 days.
Alice was born on Palm Sunday, April 13, 1924, in St. Louis, MO. In 1937, she was confirmed on Palm Sunday at St John’s UCC, Plum Hill. She married Victor G. Shubert on May 14, 1944 at St. John UCC, Plum Hill, IL. They later became members of St. Peter’s UCC, Stone Church IL.
She and Victor G raised three sons: Victor H. (Amy), Mark, and Lowell (Carol). She loved cooking and caring for her family.
Alice and Victor were blessed with twelve grandchildren: Eric Shubert, Erin (David) Biggerstaff, Lindsey (Wes) Forbush, Tess (David) Schwartz; Liz (Josh) Holleyman, Josh (Karen) Shubert, Rachel Shubert, Faith Grogan, John (Caroline) Shubert; Jackie (Justin) Knolhoff, Natalie Shubert, Andy (Alison) Shubert.
Alice was also blessed with 15 great grandchildren: Addyson, Harper, Cameron, Sloane, Blake, Desmond, Ava, Ellora, Fiona, Harrison, Parker, Victoria, Jackson, Logan, Grace, and more on the way.
Alice was a farm wife and homemaker for 70 years. In her early years, she was a single-room school teacher at Schwiering, Gravel Hill and Lively Grove Schools. In Alice’s spare time she enjoyed dowsing wells, and she and Victor were involved in the establishment of the Washington County Water Company. She also served as an election judge for many years. Alice and Victor also brought joy to many throughout Washington County as Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Alma (nee Schwiering) Chesney, her brother Roy Chesney, husband Victor G. Shubert, and son Victor H. Shubert.

Visitation: Friends may call from 9:00 am until the time of service at the church.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at St. Peter’s UCC, Stone Church, IL with Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
