Germaine A. "Gerry" Braneky

Germaine A. “Gerry” Braneky, nee Bergkoetter, 81, of Belleville, IL, born Aug. 29, 1935 in Johannisburg Twp., IL, died Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at New Athens Home for the Aged.

Gerry was a proud graduate of Okawville High School; was a certified nursing assistant at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville for 36 years before retiring; she attended St. Peter’s Cathedral in Belleville; was a member of People Serving People (PSOP); and a member of the Belleville-Swansea Women of the Moose Chapter 53.  She made many friends when she lived at the Atrium Assisted Living in Belleville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Catherine, nee Stein, Bergkoetter; three brothers; Gilbert, Eugene, and Henry in infancy; and a sister, Mary Ann Tainter.

She is survived by two daughters, Donna (Ed) Sullivan of Imperial, MO, and Nancy Braneky of Affton, MO; a granddaughter, Lisa (Travis) Hillmer of Lee Summit, MO; two great grandsons, Jordan and Maddox; a brother, Clarence “Butch” Bergkoetter of Belleville, IL; a sister-in-law, Willie Bergkoetter of South Roxana, IL; a brother-in-law, Anson Tainter of Holcomb, WI; nieces, nephews; and three special friends, Colleen Gross, Judy Lang, and Alice Weber.

Memorials may be made to St. Liborius Cemetery Fund; or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital; or Humane Society of St. Louis.  Condolences can be sent to the family by visiting mollfuneralhome.com.

Visitation: A gathering of family and friends will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, 2017 at St. Liborius Catholic Church in St. Libory, IL.
