Raymond J Sommers

Raymond J. Sommers, 86, of Mascoutah, IL, born Aug. 6, 1930 in Okawville, IL died Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at his residence.

He was a retired diesel mechanic and truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvis J. and Alvina, nee Lintker, Sommers; his wife, Erma B., nee Leadendecker, Sommers whom he married in Okawville, IL on Nov. 22, 1951 and who died Aug. 12, 2008; a sister, Lucy Ann Bailey; and a daughter-in-law, Betty Sommers.

Surviving are his children, Dennis Sommers of Ste. Genevieve, MO, Tom (Lea) Sommers of St. Jacob, IL, Rodney (Patti) Sommers of Collinsville, IL, Bobby (Sue) Sommers of New Baden, IL, Theresa Sommers of Fairview Heights, IL, Terry Sommers of O’Fallon, IL; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley Holtgrewe of Waterloo, IL, Patsy Shaw of Okawville, IL, Delores “Dodie” (George) Pfautsch of California; sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday July 23, 2017 at Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL.

Funeral: A funeral Mass will be held 10 AM Monday, July 24, 2017 at Holy Childhood Catholic Church with Father Paul Wienhoff officiating.  Burial will follow in Holy Childhood Catholic Cemetery in Mascoutah.
