Agnes V. Schmiskie, nee Holdener, 85, of Belleville, IL, born Feb. 21, 1931 in East St. Louis, IL, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville, IL.
Agnes was a homemaker and during that time she sold Tupperware; was a clerk for Central Service at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville; was a bookkeeper for Belleville Surplus; and was an election judge and assessor for Shiloh Valley Township. She was a member of Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah; Holy Childhood Council of Catholic Women; Mascoutah Women of the Moose, College of Regents, Academy of Friendship, and Star Recorder.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Ottillia, nee Riefers, Holdener; her husband, Robert W. Schmiskie, Sr. whom she married in Arkansas in July 1951 and who died Dec. 6, 1994; two brothers, Fred and Anthony Holdener; two sisters, Pauline Brisk, and Catherine Thouvenot.
Agnes is survived by her children, Dianne (John) Dagner of New Baden, IL, Patricia (David) Hummert of St. Libory, IL, Kathy (Dennis) Kimmle of Mascoutah, IL, Laura (Ed) Cockrell, Sr. of New Athens, IL, Robert W. Schmiskie, Jr. of Lebanon, IL, and Frederick “Joe” (Judith Boyd) Schmiskie of Glen Carbon, IL; 16 grandchildren, John Alex (Courtney) Dagner, Corey (fiancé Erin Hammrich) Dagner, Andrew (Mandy) Dagner, Courtney (Michael) Wright, Natalie (Jacob) Ruth, Adam (Angie) Kimmle, Matthew (Amber) Kimmle, Nicholas (Danielle) Kimmle, Angela (Curt) Kimmel, Andrea (Jason Keim) Cockrell, Edd Cockrell, Jr., Miranda Schmiskie, Bryan (fiancé Megan) Schmiskie, Adam, Eric, and Megan Schmiskie; 17 great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Alex, Preston, and Delaney Dagner, Prestyn Hammrich, Charlotte Ruby and David John Ruth, Gracie, Cheyanne, Matthew, Sidney, and Max Kimmle, Camden, Cecilia, Catherine “Maggie”, and JennaMarie Kimmel, and Amelia Cockrell; dear friend, Leonard Meyer; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lillian Holdener of Mascoutah, IL, Doris Holdener of Waterloo, IL, John and Arleen Schmiskie of Columbia, IL, and Pauline Willingham of Bluffton, SC; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2017 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL. Women of the Moose Ritual will be held at 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Funeral: a funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017 at Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah with Father Elmar Mauer and Father Allen Maes officiating. Burial will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Fairview Heights, IL.
