Alvin E. Renth, 78, of Mascoutah, IL, born May 12, 1938 in Belleville, IL, died Tuesday Feb. 14, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was a retired carpenter form Local 433 in Belleville, IL. Alvin had served on the Southern Illinois District Council of Carpenters as recording secretary, member of the Board of Directors at the Mascoutah Senior Center, Mascoutah Sportsmen Club, Holy Childhood Catholic Church and was a U. S. Navy Korean War veteran stationed at Norfolk, VA while serving on the USS Furse. He loved to hunt, fish, play cards and spend time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Antoinette, nee Markunas, Renth, his wife, Esther A., nee Theismann, Renth whom he married in Belleville, IL on Jan. 11, 1958 and who died Jan. 18, 2000, a son, Steve Renth, a granddaughter, Haley Renth, daughter-in-law, Deb Renth, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dale White, Harold Theismann, Bob and Marlene Underwood, Elwood Richter, Ruth Ann Scheibel, Joseph Dressler, Gary Campbell and Linda Kaffer..
Surviving are his three sons, Dale (Gayle) Renth, Douglas Renth and friend, Becky Cieslinski, Dan Renth, all of Mascoutah, IL; three daughters, Karolyn (Bob) Brand of Mascoutah, IL, Cheryl Pence of New Baden, IL, Shelly (Chad) Ripperda of Belleville, IL; grandchildren, Brock, Tori and Brody Renth, Matthew (Heather) Brand, Nathan (Veronica) Brand, Crystal (Chris) Ott, Brad and Lindsey Pence, Melanie Renth, Heather, Hollie and Hannah Renth, Joshua (Sami) Renth, Dallas Renth, Lauren and Hayden Ripperda; great grandchildren, Mason Brand, Kylie and Colton Ott, William Hankammer, Reece, Max and MadeLynn McGhee; a sister, Janet White of Fairview Heights, IL; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Theismann, Norman Theismann, Pat Richter, Ralph Scheibel, Jane (Louis) Sindel, Joyce Campbell, Ginny (Dave) Brutto, Ken Kaffer, Joan (Gerard) Newport; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM. Friday, Feb. 17, 2017 at Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah, IL.
Funeral: A Memorial Mass will be held 7 PM Friday, Feb. 17, 2017 at Holy Childhood Catholic Church with Father Paul Wienhoff officiating. Private burial will be held at a later date.
