Edward J. Paterline, Jr., SMSgt. Ret., 87, of Mascoutah, IL, born May 5, 1929 in Charleroi, PA, died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016 at his residence.
He retired as a SMSgt. after 22 years in the US Air Force; he worked 20 years in the Civil Service; he flew as a radio operator in the Berlin Airlift; and was a Korean War veteran. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Mascoutah; Mascoutah Douglas Lodge #361 AF & AM; Mascoutah VFW Post 7682; and the Berlin Airlift Veterans Assn (BAVA).
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward J. and Mary E., nee Seyes, Paterline, Sr.; his first wife, Irene E., nee Braun, Paterline who died Jan. 1, 1997; and a brother, Lloyd Paterline.
He is survived by his wife, Yolanda I., nee Ixtlauac, Terveer Paterline whom he married in Charleroi, PA in Aug. 2002; four children, Ursula (Larry) Manwiller of Valley Center, KS, Edward J. (Diane) Paterline III of Finksburg, MD, Debra (Allen) Hawkins of Austin, TX, and David (Dianna) Paterline of Mascoutah, IL; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a sister, Ethyl Lee (Ronald) Fallett of Monessen, PA.

Visitation: visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL; and from 9 to 10 AM Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016 at the church. A Masonic service will be held at 7 PM Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Funeral: funeral services will be held 10 AM Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016 at St. John United Church of Christ in Mascoutah with the Rev. Hugh Fitz officiating. Burial will be in Mascoutah City Cemetery.
