Mary Alice Erwin, nee Valentine, 79, of Freeburg, IL born Aug. 7, 1936 in East St. Louis, IL, died Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital, Louisville, KY due to complications resulting from an auto accident.
Mary was the office manager at the Mascoutah Senior Center. She enjoyed playing and attending ukulele class, visiting daily with friends at McDonalds, gardening to attract butterflies and feeding hummingbirds. She loved her dog, Poppy, and enjoyed spoiling her. She dearly loved her family and friends.
She was affiliated and regularly attended St. John U.C.C., Mascoutah; long time member of First United Presbyterian Church, Belleville; Mascoutah Historical Society; past member of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Erwin, Jr. and her parents, Melvin and Mary Ruth Adelle, nee Coggins, Valentine.
Surviving are her dear friend, Carl Reinneck of Mascoutah, IL; her daughter, Monica (Frank) Buckley of St. Louis, MO; her son, Martin (Linda) Erwin of Fairview Heights, IL; her granddaughter, Megan Buckley; a sister, Iris Ulch of Florida; a brother-in-law; sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of all other gifts memorials may be donated to the Mascoutah Senior Center or Mascoutah Historical Society. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting mollfuneralhome.com.
Visitation: Friends may call from 10:30 to 11:30 AM Monday, May 16, 2016 at St. John U.C.C., Mascoutah, IL.
Funeral: A memorial service will be held 11:30 AM Monday, May 16, 2016 at St. John U.C.C with the Rev Hugh Fitz and Rev. Andrew Kramer officiating. Private burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Freeburg, IL.
