Ernest Merle Selph, Sr., 88, of Mascoutah, IL, formerly of Moultrie, GA, born Dec. 13, 1927 in Colquitt County, GA, died Wednesday, Apr. 27, 2016 at his residence.
He served in the United States Air Force and retired at Scott Air Force Base, IL after 21 years. He was a Korean War veteran, served in Libya and Germany. He was awarded the good conduct medal, Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal. He was a member of the Autryville Baptist Church in Moultrie, GA. He was also an active volunteer supporting local churches and veterans. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and all his grandchildren at Panama City Beach, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Alice, nee Lawson, Selph; a son, Ernest Merle Selph, Jr.; a granddaughter, Heather Beyer; a great-granddaughter, Kenadee Moore; two brothers, W. L., and Elmer; and two sisters, Edith, and Nettie Vernice
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn, nee Young, Selph whom he married in Moultrie, GA on Feb. 25, 1949; four daughters; Gail (Gene) Worms of Mascoutah, IL, Vickie (Keith) Beyer of Belleville, IL, Sheila (Sean) Honer of Mascoutah, IL, and Judy (Don Mizer) Green of Lebanon, MO; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a brother, Wayne Selph of Tifton, GA; a sister, Eudean (Fred) Morris of La Vergne, TN; nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may call from 2 to 4 PM Sunday, May 1, 2016 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL.
Funeral: A funeral service will be held 11 AM Monday, May 2, 2016 at the funeral home with Pastor Duane Smith and Sam Gentes officiating. Burial will be in Mascoutah City Cemetery, Mascoutah, IL.
