Heidi Andersen Wallace, 44, of Belleville, IL, born March 7, 1972 in Viborg, Denmark died Thursday April 21, 2016 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville, IL after a six month illness.
Born in Viborg, Denmark, she met and married U.S. Air Force serviceman Francis J. Wallace, Jr.. Shortly after their marriage in 1994, they began their family with the additions of daughter Stephany and son Joey and not long after, Heidi became a U.S. citizen. Remaining active, visible…and vocal…in the many communities Frank’s military career carried them, she inspired all those around her. She worked most recently as a Teacher’s Aide at Pathways Elementary in Belleville where she used her talents to assist children with behavioral and learning disabilities. When talking with her, one rarely had to guess what was on Heidi’s mind because she had absolutely no qualms about telling you. She gave freely of herself to everyone with whom she crossed paths and volunteered much of her time and extraordinary energy to her loved ones and community. Heidi’s spirit will live on in the memories of those she touched. We will all miss her incredible spirit and energy.
She is preceded in death by her father, Knud Andersen.
She is survived by her incredibly supportive husband, Francis “Frank” Wallace, Jr.; children, Stephany and Joseph Wallace; mother and stepfather, Hanne and Ole; brothers, Henrik and Brian; sister, Anita; step-brothers, Thomas, Jesper, Morten, Kasper and Søren.
Many thanks to the staff at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, HSHS Hospice and Siteman Cancer Center for their thoughtful and tender care.
