Janet I. Niederer

Janet I. Niederer, nee Deatherage, 77, of Mascoutah, IL, born Apr. 10, 1938 in East St. Louis, IL died Monday, Feb. 15, 2016 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.

Janet was a homemaker; member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 392 in Mascoutah; she was an avid gardener, card player and loved to cook and take care of her family,

She was preceded in death by parents, Edward and Mabel, nee Merritt, Deatherage; her husband, James K. Niederer whom she married in East St. Louis, IL on Apr. 7, 1956 and who died Nov. 9, 2011; a granddaughter, Kara Bierman; a brother, Daniel Deatherage; and a sister, Joan Lepper.

She is survived by two sons, Michael (Susan) Niederer of Mascoutah, IL, and John (Kim) Niederer of Belleville, IL; a grandson, John Wesley (Rachael) Niederer of Belleville, IL; four great-grandsons, Gilbert, Harrison, Austin and Sam; a brother, James (Kim) Deatherage of Bradenton, FL; a sister, Doris McIntosh of Millstadt, IL; and special friend, Cindy Rowland of Mascoutah, IL.

Visitation: the family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL.

Funeral: a memorial service will be held 7 PM Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016 at Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah with Dr. Steven Phillips officiating.  A private inurnment will be in Mascoutah City Cemetery, Mascoutah, IL.
