Orville Dickhaut, 89, of Carlinville, IL formerly of Mascoutah, IL died Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at his home. Orville was born May 8, 1926 in Mascoutah Township to Elmer and Alvina, nee Weiss, Dickhaut.
Orville was a graduate of the College of Agriculture at the University of Illinois. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War as a gunner in the 89th Tank Battalion. Orville was a retired farm real estate appraiser and a member of the Guy Baird American Legion Post 554 of Carlinville. He had a great interest in gardening and, along with his wife, was a very active member of the American Hemerocallis Society and the American Iris Society. They also enjoyed many trips with the Elder Hostel Program. His family will miss his affection and wicked sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Luella, nee Seyer, Dickhaut; a sister, Evelyn (Fred) Justus of Lexington, KY; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Sappenfield of Milwaukee, WI; and nieces and nephews, David (Susan) Justus of Bowling Green, KY; Linda (Don) Harkins of Overland Park, KS; Cathy Cook of Lexington, KY; Steve (Jill) Justus of Lexington, KY; Anne Sappenfield (Scott Walker) of Madison, WI; Lora Sappenfield of Brooklyn, NY; Susan Seyer (Steve Multon) of Portland, OR; and great nieces and nephews, Kristi, Heather, Greg, Jason, Nathan, Ben, Quentin, Chelsea, Olivia, Steven, Celena, Haley, Max, Griffin, Grace, Tori and Miles.

Visitation: visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL.
Funeral : funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, Dec. 4, 2015 at the Moll Funeral Home with Pastor Jack Spratte officiating. Burial will be in Mascoutah City Cemetery, Mascoutah, IL.
