Clarence Phillip Schanz, Jr., 82, of Mascoutah, IL, born Feb. 25, 1933 in Mascoutah, died Monday, Sept. 7, 2015 at the MarKa Nursing Home in Mascoutah.
Phil was retired from patient accounts at Memorial Hospital in Belleville; a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Mascoutah; was a Korean War veteran and served as a radio operator on the USS Orleck.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Phillip, Sr. and Jenny, nee Lehman, Schanz.
He is survived by his wife, Betty, nee Johnson, Schanz whom he married in Yuma, AZ on Apr. 21, 1954; a daughter, Lisa (Kevin) Bumpus of Mascoutah; a granddaughter, Lindsey (Clint) Jackson of Mascoutah; a great-granddaughter, Rose Jackson of Mascoutah; a sister, Phyllis Cribbs of Warrenton, FL; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral : a private graveside service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015 at Mascoutah City Cemetery with Pastor Earl Crecelius officiating.
