Virginia L. Mabus

Virginia L. Mabus, nee McCutcheon, 91, of Mascoutah, IL born August 8, 1923 in Carrier Mills, IL died Thursday, June 18, 2015 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Belleville, IL.

She was a retired cook from Mascoutah Elementary School and a former member of St. John United Church of Christ in Mascoutah.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerald L. Mabus whom she married in Paducah, KY on May 4, 1940 and who died January 17, 2000, her parents, Samuel and Margaret, nee Witherspoon, McCutcheon, a son, Lindell Mabus and a daughter, Carol Mabus in infancy.

Surviving are her sons, Ronald (Alice) Mabus of Fairview Heights, IL, Stephen Mabus of Indianapolis, IN, Kevin Mabus of Portsmouth, VA; daughter-in-law, Diann Mabus of Jefferson, TX; five grandchildren; one step grandson; two great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Della Brooks of Belleville, IL.

Visitation: There will be a visitation from 4 to 8 PM Sunday, June 21, 2015 at Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL.

Funeral: A funeral service will be held 10 AM Monday, June 22 , 2015 at Moll Funeral Home with Pastor Jack Spratte officiating.  Burial will follow in Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, IL.
