Bernice I. Dakin

February 5, 1923 — January 11, 2015

Bernice I. Wilmsmeyer Dakin, nee Gramm, of Mascoutah, IL, born in Staunton, IL on Feb. 5, 1923, passed away Jan. 11, 2015 at Four Fountains Nursing Facility, Belleville, IL.

Bernice held various jobs during her life but her primary job was homemaker.  Playing bingo and going out to eat were some of Bernice’s favorite things to do.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert E. Wilmsmeyer who passed away Dec. 25, 1967; and her second husband, William Dakin who passed away June 10, 2008; her parents, Henry and Julia, nee Henig, Gramm; a sister, Henrietta Hilmes; and a brother, Bernard Gramm.

Surviving are her daughter, Carol (Gene) Haas; grandchildren, Patrick Haas, and Shelley (Darren) Rutmanis; great grandchildren, David Haas, Hunter Haas, McKenzie Haas, McKenna Haas, Aubrey Rutmanis, and Chance Rutmanis; great-great granddaughter, Julianne Haas; and a sister, Janette Sawyer.  She was a dear sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend.

In lieu of all other gifts, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.

A memorial service will be held 11 AM Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015 at the Mascoutah Visitors Center, 200 E. Main St., Mascoutah, IL 62258.
