Samantha Elizabeth Middendorf

Samantha Elizabeth Middendorf, 19, of Fayetteville, IL, born Nov. 26, 1994 in Belleville, IL, died Nov. 15, 2014 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon, IL.

She was a sophomore and journalism major at Eastern Illinois University at Charleston, IL, and was the entertainment editor and past copy editor of the university’s paper, The Daily Eastern News. She also sang for the EIU Mixed Choir her freshman year. She was a member of St. Pancratius Catholic Church, Fayetteville, IL; a 2013 graduate of Freeburg High School and captain of the Color guard/Winter guard, and was a band member all through grade school and high school; a senior girl scout; and sang in the Masterworks Children’s Chorale. She loved music, singing, reading, her animals, especially her cats Crash and Luna. She dearly loved her family.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Leroy Middendorf; and her maternal grandparents, Elmer and Norma, nee Reiso, Otten.

Surviving are her parents, Kenneth and Susan, nee Otten, Middendorf of Fayetteville, IL; two brothers, Anthony (friend Annette Biekert) Middendorf of Fayetteville, IL, and Stephen Middendorf of Fayetteville, IL; paternal grandmother, Diana , nee Rehmer, Middendorf of Fayetteville, IL, paternal great-grandmother, Doris Rehmer of Fayetteville, IL; aunts and uncles, Heather (Murali) Sundar, Alicia (Andrew) Morgan, Sharon Bergkoetter, and Robert Otten; cousins, Matthew and Rebekah Bergkoetter, Alexander and Maya Sundar, and Alaina and Andrew Morgan; many other relatives and friends.

In lieu of all other gifts, memorials may be made to the family, and the donations will be used for charities which will be determined later. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting mollfuneralhome.com.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM Friday, Nov. 21, 2014 and from 8 to 10:15 AM Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014 at Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL.

Funeral: The funeral will be held 11 AM Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014 at St. Pancratius Catholic Church in Fayetteville, IL with Fr. Paul Wienhoff and Fr. Stan Konieczny officiating.
