Donald W. Wombacher, Sr., 78, of Mascoutah, IL, born Oct. 26, 1935 in Mascoutah, IL, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014 at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.
Don is a retired salesman from Mass Merchandising, Inc., retired from the city of Mascoutah Parks and Recreation and was a bus aid for Mascoutah School District #19 until his illness; member of Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah; and he served in the U. S. Army.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Elsie, nee Haas, Wombacher, Sr.; two brothers, Louis, Jr. and Charles Wombacher; four sisters, Marian Huber, Susie Gardner, Elizabeth “Betty” Pruett, and Patricia Knoth.
He is survived by his wife, Janice R., nee Gaubatz, Wombacher, whom he married in Belleville, IL on Oct. 26, 1961; two sons, Don (Linda) Wombacher, Jr. and Dean (Valerie) Wombacher, both of Mascoutah, IL; five grandchildren, Kayla, Austin, Kelsie, Derrick (fiancé Ashley) and Courtney Wombacher; a brother, Paul (Helen) Wombacher of Mascoutah, IL; four sisters, Ruth Pope of Collierville, TN, Rita (Jack) Wilson of Lincoln, NE, Kathleen Hayes of Mascoutah, IL, and Rosalie Laquet of Mascoutah, IL; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorials may be made to Holy Childhood Memorial Improvement Fund or Mascoutah Improvement Association.
Visitation: Visitation is from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014 at Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL. A prayer service will be held 4:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
Funeral: a funeral Mass will be held 10 AM Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014 at Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah with Fr. Paul Wienhoff officiating. Burial will be in Holy Childhood Catholic Cemetery.
