Curt H. Graul, 86, of Mascoutah, IL, born Oct. 13, 1927 in Engelmann Twp., IL, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2014 at his residence.
After more than 37 years in the Postal Service, Curt retired as Postmaster of Mascoutah, IL on Jan. 2, 1988. He retired as a captain with the Mascoutah Volunteer Fire Dept. on Oct. 13, 1988. He was a member and past president of the Mascoutah Evening Lions Club; awarded Lion of the Year; member of Mascoutah Moose Lodge 815; member and past master of Douglas Lodge 361 AF & AM for 24 years; member of Ainad Shriners and Legion of Honor; life member of Dania Shrine Club of O’Fallon, IL; member of St. Clair County Farm Bureau; member of American Legion Post 292 for more than 60 years; served as a Sergeant in the U. S. Army; member of the Mascoutah Zoning Board of Appeals; past tax assessor and trustee for Mascoutah Township; and member of NAPUS (National Association of Postmasters United States).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert W., Sr. and Elvira, nee Ohlendorf, Graul; a brother, Albert Graul, Jr.; a sister, Edna Cole; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
He is survived by his wife, Frances, nee Haas, Graul, who he married in Mascoutah, IL on Feb. 5, 1955; three children, Kirk (Kim) Graul of Mascoutah, IL, Patricia Graul of Fairview Heights, IL, Michael (Susan) Graul of Swansea, IL; six grandchildren, Stephanie Lowrance of Mascoutah, IL, Andrew (Dan Heagney) Graul of Shreveport, LA, Dustin (Tara) Graul of Commerce City, CO, Meagan Graul of Swansea, IL, Jessica Graul of Mascoutah, IL, and Timothy Graul of Swansea, IL; four great-grandchildren, Katie and Callie Lowrance, and Remington and Case Graul; four sisters, Alice (Chester) Black of Lafayette, IN, Pearl Ballot of Mascoutah, IL, Carol (Ben) Rasch of Mascoutah, IL, and Nancy (Dave) Wambold of Mascoutah, IL; a brother-in-law, Phillip Cole of St. Louis, MO, other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL. There will be a Mascoutah Volunteer Fire Dept. walk through at 6:30 PM Wednesday and a Masonic service at 7 PM Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014 at Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah with the Rev. Hugh Fitz officiating. Burial will be in Mascoutah City Cemetery, Mascoutah, IL.
