Charles Anthony Wombacher

Charles Anthony Wombacher, 83, of Mascoutah, IL, born Mar. 8, 1931 in Mascoutah, IL, died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014 at his residence.

Charles is a retired salesman from Wetterau, Inc.; member of Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah, member of the Mascoutah VFW Post 7682; and he served in the U. S. Army.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Elsie, nee Haas, Wombacher, Sr.; a granddaughter, Kelly Lynn Johnson; a brother, Louis Wombacher, Jr.; four sisters, Marian Huber, Susie Gardner, Elizabeth “Betty” Pruett, and Patricia Knoth.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene, nee Seering, Wombacher whom he married in Mascoutah, IL on Sept, 3, 1958; two children, Vicky (Allen) Johnson of Mascoutah, IL, and Jeffrey (Laurie) Wombacher of Oakdale, IL; three grandchildren, Adam (Jenny) Johnson of Mascoutah, IL, and Abby Wombacher of Oakdale, IL; two great-grandchildren, Madison Marquardt of Waterloo, IL, and Kelly Johnson of Mascoutah, IL; two brothers, Paul (Helen) Wombacher of Mascoutah, IL, and Donald (Jan) Wombacher of Mascoutah, IL; four sisters, Ruth Pope of Olive Branch, MS, Rita (Jack) Wilson of Lincoln, NE, Kathleen Hayes of Mascoutah, IL, and Rosalie Laquet of Mascoutah, IL; two brothers-in-law, Harold Knoth, and Dayton Gardner, both of Mascoutah; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation: Visitation is from 4 to 8 PM Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014 and from 12 to 1 PM Monday, Sept. 29, 2014 at Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah, IL.  A prayer service will be held 4:00 PM Sunday at the church.

Funeral: a funeral Mass will be held 1 PM Monday, Sept. 29, 2014 at Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah with Fr. Gerald Hechenberger officiating.  Burial will be in Holy Childhood Catholic Cemetery.
