Melvin B. Schinzing

Melvin B. Schinzing, 85, of Mascoutah, IL, born Aug. 3, 1929 in Belleville, IL, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.

Mel was retired from the maintenance department of Belleville School District 118 and a dedicated member of the Mascoutah Sportsman’s Club. He was a member of the V.F.W., Belleville, IL and a U. S. Navy veteran.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul A. and Bertha, nee Bierwirth, Schinzing and two brothers, Orville and Leroy Schinzing.

He is survived by his wife, Marlyn H. “Molly” Schinzing, nee Hoepfinger of Mascoutah, IL whom he married in Mayfield, KY on Sept. 4, 1948; a son, Randy Lee Schinzing of Mascoutah, IL; two grandchildren, Heather (Joel) Asunskis and Robert Schinzing; three great-grandchildren, Ava, Payton and Sydney Asunskis; also survived by nieces, a nephew and many dear friends.

Visitation: visitation is from 4 to 8 PM Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL.

Funeral: funeral services will be held 10 AM Friday, Aug. 22, 2014 at Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah with Pastor Jack Spratte officiating.  Burial will follow in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
