Annie L. “Loy” Welker, 86, of Mascoutah, IL, born Dec. 6, 1927 in Okawville, IL, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Oak Hill Nursing Home in Waterloo, IL.
Loy was a homemaker, and along with her husband Skip, owned and operated Skip’s tavern in Rentchler, IL 25 years. She was a retired head housekeeper from West Main and MarKa Nursing Homes in Mascoutah; member of Holy Childhood Catholic Church, Mascoutah; and a life member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 392 of Mascoutah.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence “Earl” and Zelines Lee “Girlie”, nee Garbs, Hawkins; her husband, Paul A. “Skip” Welker whom she married in Okawville, IL on Apr. 24, 1946 and who died Aug. 29, 2005; three sisters, Ellen in infancy, Marcella Madala, and Leona Mae Evilsizer.
She is survived by her son, Jim Welker of Mascoutah, IL; three granddaughters, Melissa (Jeff) Schanz of Mascoutah, IL, Julie (Ryan) Weber of Waterloo, IL, and Angie (Jeremy) Schanz of Mascoutah, IL; seven great-grandchildren, Allison, Brendan, and Colton Schanz, Samantha and Payton Weber, Austin and Katelyn Schanz; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made to Holy Childhood Memorial Improvement Fund, or Hospice of Southern Illinois, Inc.
Visitation: Visitation is from 4 to 8 PM Friday, July 18, 2014 and from 9 to 10 AM Saturday, July 19, 2014 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL. There will be a prayer service at 4 PM Friday at the funeral home.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday, July 19, 2014 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah with Father Paul Wienhoff officiating. Burial will be in Holy Childhood Catholic Cemetery, Mascoutah, IL.
