Jeareal L. “Jerry” Gravitt, 72, of Mascoutah, IL, born Mar. 29, 1942, in Peoria, IL, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Relais Bonne Eau Hospice Home, Edwardsville, IL.

Jeareal was a retired telecommunication supervisor from the United States Air Force and also retired from Civil Service as a computer specialist for the Army.  He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Mascoutah, IL; and an U. S. Air Force Vietnam veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion C. and Mary Clestel, nee Strickland, Gravitt; three brothers, Elton Gravitt, Clifford Miller, and David Miller; three sisters, Joyce Gravitt, Helen Brown, and Lonnie Wattling.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth A., nee Burrow, Gravitt whom he married in Fairview Heights, IL on Aug. 4, 1979; three children, Diane (Rick) Robinett of Hollywood, FL, Lee (Lori) Gravitt of Burbank, WA, and Jerry (Tiffany) Gravitt of Mascoutah, IL; ten grandchildren, Matthew, Thomas, Isabella, Savannah, Jacob, Kevin, Joseph, Dustin, Brandon, and Nikkole; two great-grandchildren, Paige, and Ny’Riah; three brothers, Jimmy Gravitt of Goodfield, IL, Rick (Sue) Miller of Cumming, GA, Terry (Betty) Gravitt of Haleyville, AL; and a sister Rosemary (Tony) Harris of Bartonville, IL.

Memorials may be made to Relais Bonne Eau Hospice Home, or St. John United Church of Christ; or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Visitation: visitation is from 2 to 6 PM Sunday, July 20, 2014 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL and from 9 to 10 AM Monday, July 21, 2014 at St. John United Church of Christ, Mascoutah, IL.

Funeral: funeral services will be held 10 AM Monday, July 21, 2014 at the St. John United Church of Christ in Mascoutah with the Rev. Hugh Fitz officiating. Graveside services will be held 1:30 PM Monday, July 21, 2014 at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, IL.
